Key Policies

To provide calm, consistent, and effective support, I work within a clear set of lesson expectations. These policies exist to protect learning time, ensure fairness for all families, and create an environment where students can make steady progress without unnecessary stress or disruption.
As a solo English tutor, structure and boundaries allow me to give each student my full attention and care. When expectations are shared and respected, lessons run smoothly, communication stays clear, and students benefit from a focused, supportive learning experience.
These policies are designed to support consistency and clarity, not to create pressure
Professional Boundaries
As a solo English tutor, your patience and cooperation are appreciated. Following these policies allows me to do my job in an efficient and sustainable way, and helps create a calm and productive learning environment for your child.
- Parent input and updates are welcome through text or scheduled discussions. However, for lessons to be effective, it’s important that I guide the direction and planning. Lessons aren’t shaped around parental preferences — students learn best when I’m trusted to define the focus and see the plan through.
- Please avoid unannounced visits or unexpected phone calls during teaching hours. When you interrupt, I am usually teaching another child, and it takes away from their lesson. Respecting both their time and my preparation time ensures I can give every family my full attention.
- Communication should remain respectful and professional at all times.
Contact & Communication
Clear and timely communication helps me support your child effectively while managing a busy teaching schedule.
- Please text 0425 247 830 for questions about invoices or your child’s progress.
- Generally, I avoid answering phone calls while teaching, and lessons run back-to-back, so discussions at drop-off or pick-up aren’t possible.
- All important matters (payments, scheduling, policies) are handled in writing.
- If the matter is small or not urgent, it must be addressed via text. If the matter is more complex, parents must first send a text requesting a meeting or phone appointment and clearly stating the reason. Without this, I may not be able to reply or arrange a time.
Attendance & Payments
As a small independent service, places are limited. Lessons are designed for steady progress, so I work best with families who are committed to regular attendance. This is not a casual service — consistency is expected.
Rescheduling
- Reschedules are not available for group classes unless the whole group agrees.
- One-on-one students must give at least 2 days’ notice to request a reschedule.
- If proper notice isn’t given, the lesson fee is forfeited
- Reschedules depend on availability and aren’t guaranteed.
- Requests made due to workload from other subjects may be declined. Developing time management is part of the learning process.
Payments
- Refunds or credits are not offered except in genuine emergencies.
- Fees are fixed and non-negotiable to ensure fairness for all families
- Invoices must be paid in full by the due date unless arrangements have been approved in advance.
Student Expectations
Students share responsibility for making lessons effective. To get the most benefit, they should keep me updated on school work and come prepared for lessons.
- Assessment drafts should be submitted at least one week before the school deadline. Drafts submitted within two days of a deadline won’t receive feedback.
- Students are expected to complete homework and respond to feedback.
- School books, online access, or relevant materials must be shared promptly so lessons can be planned effectively.
If homework is persistently incomplete or guidance repeatedly ignored, lessons may be discontinued. Consistent effort and communication are essential for steady progress.
When these expectations aren’t met consistently, it can limit progress and make it difficult for lessons to remain productive.
Ending Lessons
Lessons work best when expectations are met on both sides. My goal is always to support students in a way that is steady, respectful, and genuinely helpful.
In some situations, however, it may become clear that ongoing lessons are no longer the right fit. This decision is never taken lightly and is usually preceded by communication about concerns or expectations where appropriate. Lessons may be paused or discontinued if:
- Policies aren’t followed
- Attendance or participation is inconsistent
- Payments aren’t made on time
- Homework or feedback is repeatedly ignored
- Behaviour from a student or parent affects the learning environment
- The student’s needs no longer match what I can offer
Wherever possible, I aim to communicate openly before making any changes to a student’s enrolment. However, in some cases, I may choose to conclude lessons without further discussion so that we can end on clear, respectful, and professional terms.
Sometimes, recognising when a service is no longer the right fit is the most responsible outcome for everyone involved.
