English Tutoring (Year 5 -12)

Reading Time: 3 minutes

I provide academic English tutoring for students in Years 5–12, with a focus on clarity, structure, and steady, long-term growth.

Lessons are available in two formats:

Lesson FormatPricing (per hour)Best for
Individual Classes$59 (billed by the term; GST not included)Short-term intensive support, unique learning needs, or students working on specific goals/assessments
Small Focus Groups$42 per student (billed by the term; GST not included)Students from the same school and year level, working on similar assessments or classroom content

Individual Lessons

Best for students who:

  • Need short-term intensive support
  • Have unique learning needs or circumstances that make group lessons unsuitable
  • Prefer focused, uninterrupted attention
  • Need pacing and feedback tailored to their ability

What to expect:

Weekly lessons planned around your child’s immediate needs, with guided practice, clear instruction, real-time feedback, and personalised notes and scaffolds when appropriate.

👉 Note: Spaces for one-on-one lessons are limited. Priority is given to students whose learning needs make group lessons unsuitable.

Small Focus Groups

Best for students who:

  • Students from the same school and year level
  • Those working on similar assessments or content
  • Enjoy structured yet social learning
  • Students building independence and long-term confidence

What to expect:

Structured small-group lessons with targeted teaching, individual feedback within the group, and personalised weekly tasks.

This format encourages independence, balanced progress, and clearer thinking – often more effectively than weekly one-on-one support.

Families typically form their own groups (up to five students) from the same school and year level.

👉 Priority is given to pairs or near-complete groups to ensure aligned content and smoother lesson planning

What We Focus On

While each student’s program is personalised, common areas of focus include:

  • Structuring essays and extended responses
  • Analytical writing and textual interpretation
  • Reading comprehension
  • Creative, persuasive, and discursive writing
  • Vocabulary, clarity, and grammar
  • Preparation for NAPLAN and school-based exams
  • HSC English: textual analysis, essay skills, and assessment preparation
  • Feedback, editing skills, and drafting strategies

Across all services, the goal is to strengthen literacy, independence, and confidence – not just results.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is your teaching style or approach to tutoring? What makes this service different from major tutoring centres or other options?

My approach is personal, flexible, and aligned with school content.

Lessons adapt each week to what your child is learning, while building long-term skills, confidence, and organisation.

There is no fixed curriculum — support is responsive and genuinely tailored.

Do you support students with learning differences or neurodiverse needs?
Yes. I work closely with families to understand individual needs and adjust lessons accordingly. Please include relevant information in the enrolment form.

Do you provide resources or homework?
Yes — including annotated exemplars, model responses, scaffolds, and weekly tasks where appropriate. Additional resources can be provided on request.

Do you offer online lessons?
Yes. Online lessons are conducted primarily via Discord voice calls, using screen sharing and real-time feedback. Face-to-face lessons generally support stronger focus, but the online format is available when needed.

Where are you located?
All lessons are held in my home classroom in Chester Hill, with flexible options for online or blended learning when required.
